Priyanka Chopra was born on 18th July 1982. Her father and mother both were army physicians. She also has a brother Sidhart who is seven years junior to her. Actress Parineeti Chopra, Meera Chopra, and Mannara Chopra all are her cousin by relation. During her early childhood, she had to frequently move one city to the other because of her father’s transferable job. Thus she stayed in different states of the country including Delhi, Punjab, UP and Maharashtra.
It was because of the transferable nature of her father’s job she had to attend several schools during her early childhood including La Martiness Girl’s School in Lucknow. At the age of thirteen, she moved to the US for further study. There she attended two schools including Bareilly Newton North High School in Newton, Massachusetts and John F. Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. Then she returned to India to complete her study at Lowa Army School, Bareilly. She had completed higher studies from St. Maria Goretti College which is in Bareilly, Jai Hind College and Basant Singh Institute of Science, Mumbai. Apart from studies she also took lesson of Western classical music and kathak dance etc. She has to face bullying form her classmates because of her Indian origin.
In the year 2000, she participated in the Femina Miss India contest and finished second winning the Femina Miss India World title. Then she joined the Miss World pageant and won the Miss World 2000 title and Miss World Continental Queen of Beauty—Asia & Oceania at the Millennium Dome in London. After winning these titles she started getting offers for films from various quarters.
Priyanka Chopra made her acting debut with a Tamil film namely Thamizhan which was released in 2002. After that in 2003, she made her debut in Bollywood with Anil Sharma’s The Hero: Love Story of a Spy. She got her first commercial success with David Dhawan’s romantic comedy Mujhse Shaadi Karogi in 2004.
